Chiropractic care for back, neck and joint problems

Every first visit starts with your history, an examination and a talk about what we found. Treatment only starts once you've agreed to a plan.

  • No referral needed
  • Pay per visit, no packages
  • Evening and Saturday times
Your first visitSample timings

About 60 minutes, in four parts

  1. History15 min

What's going on, when it started, what makes it better or worse, your general health and any medicines.

  2. Examination20 min

How you move, strength, reflexes and feeling, and the joints and muscles involved. You stay dressed.

  3. Discussion10 min

What we think is going on, what we'd suggest, what it costs, or a referral to your doctor.

  4. Treatment, if you agree15 min

Only once you've said yes. If you'd like to think it over, you pay the exam-only price.

What happens at your first visit

The same four parts, in the same order, for everyone. You can stop or ask a question at any point.

  1. 15 minutes

    History

What's going on, when it started, what makes it better or worse, your general health and any medicines.

  2. 20 minutes

    Examination

How you move, strength, reflexes and feeling, and the joints and muscles involved. You stay dressed.

  3. 10 minutes

    Discussion

What we think is going on, what we'd suggest, what it costs, or a referral to your doctor.

  4. 15 minutes

    Treatment, if you agree

Only once you've said yes. If you'd like to think it over, you pay the exam-only price.

Bring a list of any medicines you take, and any scan or X-ray reports you already have. If the examination turns up something a doctor should look at, we write to your doctor and don't treat you that day.

Common reasons people book

These are the problems people most often describe when they call. Everyone's different, so the first visit is where we work out what's going on for you.

  • Low back pain

An ache or stiffness low in the back, whether it started with one lift or built up over weeks.

  • Neck pain and stiffness

Trouble turning your head, or a neck that tightens up over a working day.

  • Stiffness between the shoulder blades

Common in people who sit, drive or look down at a screen for long stretches.

  • Pain that spreads into an arm or a leg

We check for the signs that need a doctor first, and tell you if we think it isn't one for us.

  • Shoulder and hip problems

Stiffness or pain around a joint that gets in the way of everyday movements.

  • Desk, car and sleep setup

Advice on how you sit, drive and sleep. Book an exam and talk if that's all you want.

Our scopeWe only look at problems with the spine, muscles and joints. If what you describe sounds like something else, we'll say so and point you to your doctor.

When to see a doctor or go to the ER instead

Some symptoms need a medical doctor, not a chiropractor. We ask about all of these at a first visit, but please don't wait for an appointment with us if any of them apply.

Call 911 or go to the ER if you have

  • Back or neck pain after a car crash, a fall from a height or another serious injury
  • New numbness around the groin or inner thighs, or new trouble controlling your bladder or bowels
  • Weakness in an arm or a leg that's getting worse
  • Chest pain, or pain together with shortness of breath
  • A sudden, severe headache, or neck pain with slurred speech, vision changes or dizziness
Call 911

See your doctor before booking if you have

  • Back pain with a fever, or you feel generally unwell
  • Weight loss you can't explain, or you've had cancer
  • Pain that's worse at night or when you're lying still
  • You've been told you have osteoporosis, or you take blood thinners

Sample guidance Written for this concept site and not medical advice. These lists don't cover everything: if you're unsure, call your doctor, or 911 in an emergency.

What treatment can include

A plan usually mixes two or three of these. We explain each one before we start, including how it might feel afterwards.

  • Joint manipulation

A quick, controlled push to one joint in the spine or a limb, often called an adjustment. You may hear a click.

  • Mobilization

Slower, gentler movement of a joint through its range, for people who'd rather not have an adjustment.

  • Soft-tissue work

Pressure and stretching on tight muscles around the area that's bothering you.

  • Exercises and advice

A few exercises to do at home, and suggestions for your desk, car and sleeping position.

Using your insurance

Whether your plan covers chiropractic care, how many visits it allows and what you pay each time all depend on the plan. We can't tell you that until we've checked.

Send us your insurance details when you book and we'll call your insurer, then tell you what we found before your first visit. If we're not in your plan's network, we give you an itemized receipt (sometimes called a superbill) to send in yourself.

If your plan won't cover a visit, you pay the self-pay price above. Sample policy

Questions to ask your insurer

  1. Is chiropractic care covered on my plan?
  2. Do I need a referral first?
  3. How many visits a year are covered?
  4. What's my copay or coinsurance per visit?
  5. How much of my deductible is left this year?
  6. Do out-of-network visits count toward anything?

Have your member ID card ready. The number to call is usually on the back.

Who you'll see

You'll usually see the same chiropractor at every visit. A real clinic would list each chiropractor's license and training here.

  • Nora Abbott

    Chiropractor

Ask about: Neck and back problems in people who work at a desk

  • Tomás Ferreira

    Chiropractor

Ask about: Low back problems in people who lift or stand all day

  • Imani Brooks

    Front desk and billing

Ask about: Insurance questions, receipts and moving appointments

Questions people ask before booking

Something else? Call the front desk on (555) 014-7731.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book with us directly. Some insurance plans only pay for chiropractic care with a referral from your doctor, so check yours, or ask us to.

What does treatment feel like?

Most people feel pressure and sometimes hear a click from the joint. Some feel sore for a day or two afterwards. Tell us at any point if you want to stop or try a gentler approach.

How many visits will I need?

At the end of your first visit we suggest a plan and when we'll re-examine you to see how it's going. You pay per visit, there are no packages to buy, and you can stop whenever you like.

Do you take X-rays?

We don't take X-rays at the clinic. If we think you need a scan or an X-ray, we explain why and send a letter to your doctor.

What should I wear?

Loose clothes you can move in. You stay dressed for the whole visit, though we may ask you to take off a jacket or your shoes.

What if I need to cancel?

Give us 24 hours' notice to cancel or move an appointment, by phone or with the link in your reminder text. This is a sample policy.

Ask for a first visit

Tell us a little about what's going on and when suits you. The front desk calls back to confirm a time and, if you'd like, to check your insurance. This is a demo form, so nothing is sent. Concept
