Baths, haircuts and nail trims for dogs and cats
Thistledown is a small salon with three grooming tables. We book dogs in at staggered times so it never gets crowded, and cats get the salon to themselves two mornings a week.

About 3 hours in all. Dogs rest in a quiet crate between steps; let us know if yours can't be crated.
Before your pet's first visit
The first groom takes a little longer while we get to know your pet. These notes cover dogs and cats.
- Walk your dog before drop-off so they can settle on the table.
- Bring your vet's vaccination record, or email it before the day.
- Tell us about mats, skin problems, sore joints or anything your pet hates.
- Bring a photo of a haircut you like. It helps more than describing it.
- Allow ten minutes at check-in for the first visit. After that it's five.
Vaccinations we ask for
Every pet needs these up to date before their appointment. Your vet's record is enough; we keep a copy on file. Sample policy
- Dogs
- Rabies
- Distemper and parvovirus (DHPP)
- Bordetella (kennel cough)
- Cats
- Rabies
- FVRCP
Puppies can come from 12 weeks with the shots they've had so far. Questions about which vaccines your pet should have are for your vet.

Cat mornings
No dogs in the building on those mornings. One cat at a time, in the back room with the door shut, with the same groomer every visit. If your cat gets too stressed, we stop and call you, and you pay for what was done.

Questions owners ask
Anything else, call (555) 016-4418 during opening hours.
Can I stay while my dog is groomed?
For nail trims, yes. For baths and haircuts we ask you to drop off: most dogs settle faster when their owner is out of sight, and it keeps the salon quiet for everyone.
What if my dog's coat is matted?
Brushing out heavy mats hurts, so we may need to clip short underneath. We call you before we start. Extra time for mats is $15 per 15 minutes (sample price).
My dog is nervous or snaps. Can you still groom him?
Tell us when you book. We give nervous dogs the first slot of the day, take breaks, and stop and call you if it isn't working. You pay only for what we did.
How old does a puppy need to be?
Twelve weeks or older, with the shots for their age so far. A puppy's first groom is a short bath, a nail trim and a chance to get used to the dryer.
How do I cancel or move a booking?
Reply to your reminder text or call at least 24 hours ahead and there's no charge. Missed appointments without notice pay half the booked price (sample policy).
