Advice
What makes a good photography website.
Curate, don't upload everything
A tight selection of your strongest images beats a long scroll of average ones. Group them by the work you want more of: weddings, portraits, products.
Upload finished images and describe them
The builder resizes uploads for the web, so upload your finished exports. Describe each image in a few words: it helps screen readers and image search.
Show packages or starting prices
Couples and clients shortlist on price. Packages with "from" prices and what is included save a lot of back-and-forth.
Ask for the date first
For event work the date decides everything. Put date, location and type of event at the top of your enquiry form.
Say where you work
Name the city or region you are based in and how far you travel, in your header and in your search description.

From Inquiry to Booked: A 2026 Playbook for Restaurants and Venues
- Turn event inquiries into booked dates
Replace "email us" with a short, structured inquiry form
An open email address invites a vague first message, which starts a week of back-and-forth. A form that asks for event type, preferred date, whether the date is flexible, estimated guest count, budget range and a notes field gives you what you need to answer in one reply. Keep it short and easy to finish on a phone, using dropdowns and checkboxes where you can. If you use an event platform such as Tripleseat, embed its lead form or link to its hosted form so every inquiry lands in one place instead of a shared inbox.
- Turn event inquiries into booked dates
Send an instant reply that actually helps
A planner who inquires at 10 p.m. is often contacting several venues at once. Set up an automatic reply that confirms you received the request, shares your event packages or private dining menu, and says when a person will follow up. Then have a named role, not a whole team, own every new inquiry until it is booked or closed. Track each inquiry with a simple status: new, replied, tour or tasting scheduled, proposal sent, booked, lost.
- Turn event inquiries into booked dates
Show packages, starting prices and deposit terms up front
Guests decide faster when they can see what is included, roughly what it costs and what it takes to hold a date. Publish your packages or minimums, your deposit amount or percentage, and your cancellation terms in plain language, and let people pay the deposit online through your booking or payment provider. If you sell short-term lodging or tickets to live performances, the FTC's Rule on Unfair or Deceptive Fees, in effect since May 12, 2025, requires the total price, including mandatory fees, to be shown up front and most prominently. Restaurants and other venues should still disclose service charges clearly, and some states add their own rules, so talk to your attorney if you add mandatory fees.
- Use photos and social to fill slow dates
Build a photo and video library guests can plan from
Planners want to picture their event, so shoot each room at different setups and capacities: a seated dinner, a standing reception, a ceremony layout. Add your signature dishes, drinks, the bar and the outside of the building so people recognize it when they arrive. Get written permission before posting guests or their events. Use the same library everywhere, and add descriptive alt text on your website so the photos work for people using screen readers.

FAQ
Questions about a free photography website
Is there a portfolio page?
Yes. The photography starter has a Portfolio page with two galleries, "Weddings & events" and "Portraits & families". Rename them, add more, and choose a mosaic, even grid, scrolling strip or carousel layout.
Can clients check my availability?
The starter uses an enquiry form that asks about the date and plans, which works on the free website. Online booking with open time slots is part of the website plan ($29 a month).
Can I show my packages and prices?
Yes. The Packages page has a pricing section with a card for each package (name, price and what is included) and a questions section underneath.
How much does it cost?
Nothing to build and publish: your site goes live free on its own name.epicte.ch address with HTTPS and a small "Made with EpicTech" line in the footer. No card needed. The website plan ($29 a month) adds your own domain, online booking, event RSVPs, newsletters, members-only pages and a download of your site, and removes that line. Cancel any time and the site stays live on its free address.
